Single surface component links!

Here are some links to components made out of flat surfaces. I think we can achieve the light diffusion occurring through the leafs without stacking components. Because when thinking of it if we are being environmentally conscious then staking components would be a waste of material usage. As well it would become messy, more work and easily become too heavy. After some googling around I haven't found anything about stacking components so maybe there is a point to that nobody is doing it.

Please read this for Wednesday meeting!

Ok, don't forget that we meet on Wednesday with interesting materials to explore ways of making components from flat surfaces. Take anything from boring to crazy materials (but maybe not carbon fibre sheets). I think we actually have something here, finally! Just think about light diffusion by stacking components like leafs in a tree. Meaning some areas with multiple components and some areas with just one component etc. And think about the possible light effects, ornamentation and spatial atmospheres that can be produced. As mentioned don't close yourselves into one way of doing and one scale and one application. We must be openminded in order to become flexible and adjust to particular workshops but also for our own sake in that it will become extremely boring to just do one thing over and over and over and over and over again. Also at the end nobody wants to do the same thing if we come back to the same institution.

May the force be with you!

Kusudama component!

Nice way of making a component.

Repetition = ornamental effects

Application of canopy!

 We should also look at ways of applying our structure and not just being abstract.

Bending flat surfaces!

Wow!
This one is super nice. Imagine just by bending paper strips this would be the outcome.

Origami components

Just go through the entire blog....
 Nice way would be to engage kids to fold the components and then put them all together into one canopy. This is also important and not just have one way of working. Not just a square nor just ready made components but that we have a palette of different techniques of making.
